23andMe format

Your raw data must be downloaded from 23andMe

On the download page, enter your password again

Select the profile you want to download. Select "All DNA" for the Data set

Press the "Download Data" button and save the .zip file to your computer

23andMe chip versions v2, v3 and v4 are supported
Data must be based on human reference build 37. If you downloaded your data before August 9th, 2012, you have build 36 data and must re-download your data from 23andMe
You can upload your data to us in either the .zip file or decompressed .txt file
Warning: Do not open your 23andMe .txt file in Microsoft Excel. If you save the file (even if you made no changes), it will be altered and will break the import. You can download a new unchanged copy from your 23andMe account

Your raw data must be downloaded from Ancestry.com

From the menu at the top, click DNA

On the DNA page, select "Settings"

On the settings page, look for the "Download your raw DNA" section and click "Get Started"

Follow the instructions, and check your email for the link to download your raw data

You can upload your data to us in either the .zip file, or decompressed .txt file

The .fasta file from the MT "Full Sequence" mitochondrial DNA test is not supported

Typically used for exome, whole genome, or targeted sequencing
"Genome" VCFs (.genome.vcf or gVCF) are supported (and preferred), as this will allow the calculation and presentation of call coverage at every position
Can be compressed in .gz, .zip, or .bz2 formats
Only single-sample VCF files are supported. If you have a multi-sample VCF and want to import each sample, you need to split the VCF file first. Use our easy VCFSplit tool here

Our main support is for the var-[ASM-ID].tsv.bz2 file found in the ASM folder

The filename that you upload to us must start with "var-", and end with "tsv.bz2" or "tsv"
